I personally have not seen all the movies that were nominated.. errr… i only saw 3 of the nominees for Best Picture:  UP In the Air, UP, and District 9. I haven’t even seen Avatar! i’m a loser. Although I really, really want to see PRECIOUS and AN EDUCATION. so i’m not in the best position to critique on who should or should’ve not won. I’ll just make comments on the award show itself.

1st of all, why is that the Academy Awards Night 2009 is better than this year. i thought this year it was a little “boring”. considering that Last year, the Academy had to strip low of its budget because of the recession but i think they did a better job of it then. It could also be because the one man show of  Hugh Jackman is better than Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin combined.

2nd. was it just the broadcast that i got or there weren’t production numbers except that of Neil Patrick Harris’ opening? correct me if i’m wrong in this.

3rd. the Academy, like any other award shows (Golden Globes, SAG’s etc.) are “bastos” to the the winners, as they always cut off the speeches’ short because of time constraints. but i had to give it props this year coz they at least gave time for the winners to say their thank you’s without forcing them to hurry up.

4th. i dont know how the  sitting arrangements come about but they really had to determine and set their priorities straight. Why? why was The Precious Cast were placed at the far end almost giving them no importance when it is considering a nominee for best picture, actress and supporting actress and several others. The same case happened to Slumdog Millionaire last year and then i seeing some non-Academy related attendees ocupying better seats than these people who should actually get more recognition.

how about divide the seatings equally TO THE PEOPLE THAT MATTER ergo THE NOMINEES and say, no matter how popular some of the artist were, if they weren’t there for whatever of was just there to present an award for 5 minutes, give them their rightful seat. after all they weren’t up for the accolade. give the people who deserves it more their fair share of spotlight.

5th. i know they are up for ratings and stuff, but why was Miley Cyrus there? she’s an eyesore. it’s a good thing tho that she can talk and carry herself, coz if she didn’t she wouldve made a fool out of herself in there.

6th. i can’t hink of anymore but there are still more.

and gain they had to rub MERYL STREEP of her Greatness.. I would die happy, if i could be in the same breathing area as her.

American Idol season 9 is so boring it makes me barf.

i wouldn’t call myself a hardcore AI fan, because honestly the only seasons i watched from start to finish are seasons 3, and 7.

incidentally, both have Filipinas in the top 12 but that’s beside the point.

anyways, even though i wasn’t up to following the other seasons i have got to admit that i did take a glance at them and was able to build up some sort of favorites from it during the earlier rounds. but season9 has been proving to be a difficult season to find someone to cheer on for. the first week of live performances in Hollywood, the girls bored me. i fell asleep right at the middle of it. and the boys have proven they are of the same if not much worse.

the only person who impressed me during the first week was Joe MuÑoz and unfortunately, he immediately got eliminated.

Aaron Kelly, by the looks of it will follow the same path as David Archuleta and gaining hormonal teenage fans along the way. tho i kind of was impressed by him when he sang the Climb at the auditions.

Jermain Sellers irks me. he’s coming of as cocky to me. and Michael Lynch is still basking on the drama that is his wife giving birth during Hollywood week. i wonder how long the sympathy will held onto him for the competition.

Tim Urban gave me headache during the first round although i got to hear him at the second week (while i was busily washing the dishes) that he did improved. which thank God coz he might shoot himself next if he wasn’t improving.

AI is marketing Casey James for Kara DioGuardi’s apparent crush on him. good thing he wasn’t THAt bad of a singer he might as well sell sex for him to still be in the competition.

i also failed to mention that KARA DIOGUARDI irked me to no end when she was trying to be all PAULA ABDUL-ISH on the contestants during hollywood week. i can see Simon Cowell rolling his eyes evrytime.

ONE thing that i do like on this season is that the Judges are proving to be objective and spot unlike when PAula abdul was still a judge. At least this time, they were talking about tecahnicalities, the talents, and the appeal.. unlike Paula’s drunkard comments. I like Ellen tho, she’s there to represent the people who ONLY listens to music and not the hollabaloos behind it. let’s see if she can keep that up.

…and i just sneaked a couple of hours from seclusion to write and ramble about being old. my head’s not functioning well, i think i might need brain booster starting now.

a lot of people are complaining why snsd and suju didn’t won anything at the MAMA’s. Korean entertainent spells that If the artist decides not to attend the award show, then it forfeits their nominations and award. as simple as No Show=No award.

my take. SME continues to stir controversy for themselves by declaring boycotts here and there, especially if the award show is Mnet (MNET afterall is a Music channel/portal) their awards show matters.

my take, people whould realize it is unfair to say that the artists who won the awards only did because SM artists werent present, hence forfeiting the said award. SME are the one who decide they won’t be attending and will be boycotting. No one asked them to do it. It IS their Fault if they don’t win. as simple as that.

my take. SME should get over themselves and be professional. it might not matter to them but it does to the fans and they owe it to them.

my take. SM is afraid of losing, that is why they do things to prevent people from seeing that way before the award show even started. see it will be a slap in the face if they don’t win even when they are there. by boycotting, people will have to think of ways to justify why they didn’t win, making other artist and companies look bad while they are soliciting pity and understanding from the public.

SME needs to get over themselves and realize that Korean Music Industry doesn’t revolve around them, and it won’t stop just because they decided they won’t show themselves up. Thank heavens there are small company players, underrated artists who keeps the Music alive.

Jacque Bermejo has been the target of hate threads from Filipinos after someone used her identity to post a very offensive statement against Pinoys affected by the onslaught of tropical storm Ondoy on social networking site, Facebook.

“buti n lng am hir in dubai! maybe so many sinners bak der! so yeah deserving wat hapend (sic),” the comment read.

The said statement generated more than 1,000 responses from Filipino Facebook users.

The comments included hate messages, accusations and threats from fellow Filipinos.

A user named “Ondoy” posted on September 28, 2009: “Hambalusin na yan!”

Anonymous said: “don’t worry dadalaw tayo sa burol ni jacq bermejo. titingnan natin kung talagang patay siya! (sic)”

Jay-ar said: “meron ba kaung pix ng taong yan? baka kasi makasalubong ko sya mabigyan lang ng mag asawang bitch slap! grrrr…!! (sic)”

Srub09 commented: “sana sya na lng ang inanud ng baha!!porke nakapunta na ng ibang bansa.kung sino na makapagsalita…sipain ko yang mukha mo! (sic)”

Pusa said: “naloka ako sa mga comments sa kanya sa multiply… kasi naman in times like this we should all unite and do our best to help and we don’t need negative thoughts. (sic)”

Alyssa stated: “she’s pathetic and lacks good moral. dummy.(sic)”

Several new accounts on Facebook were also created under her name by irate users.

‘A victim too’

However, in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN Middle East News Bureau, the person behind the controversial name maintained her innocence.

Bermejo denied posting the insulting remarks on Facebook. The marketing executive is saddened by the comments she receives from fellow Filipinos for something she says she did not do.

“Pero naman kung ako siguro ang nakakita sa post na yun, mag iisip naman ako na, bakit naman niya gagawin iyan. Bakit niya ilalagay ang picture niya? Bakit niya ilalagay ang real identity niya? Parang bine-bait niya sarili niya na, ‘Ok, kill me’,” said Bermejo.

She explained that someone hacked her Facebook account and manipulated its contents two years ago. This prompted her to deactivate her account.

Furthermore, she brought the incident to the Dubai Police who advised her to just open another account.

She also revealed that accounts under her name in other social networking sites like Multiply and Friendster were not hers.

The hacker continued to manipulate the said sites often posting negative comments against her friends.

The last post that insulted people affected by the typhoon alarmed her. She said that after the post, many people started issuing threatening statements against her.

“Pero after this, itong post na ito, unang-unang ginawa ko kagabi umalis ako sa bahay ko. Doon ako natulog sa bahay ng mga kapatid ko kasi natatakot ako,” she said.

Her close friends could not help but feel sorry for what happened to her. They said their friend is clearly an innocent victim. They also appealed to fellow Filipinos to put an end to the issue.

“Gusto ko naman ma-clear yung (name) niya dahil hindi naman ganun si Jacque. And, kung sino ang gumawa nun, he is, something talaga is wrong sa kanya, dapat sana stop na yung mga ganung things eh,” said her friend “Mel”.

‘Official statement’

A Facebook user posted Bermejo’s alleged official statement dated September 29, 2009 in the hopes of clearing her name.

She said that an unidentified source created the accounts using her name, her personal details, and pictures.

“Because of these incidents, I reported such abuses and sent my credentials to the administrators of such sites, particularly Facebook. I have been abused and am still being abused online in social networking websites such as Facebook, Friendster, Multiply etc,” Bermejo’s statement said.

Her friends called her up and informed her about the cruel “shoutout” on the Facebook account and the numerous comments from other users.

“These malicious statement(s) which are posted under account names Jacque or Jackie are not of my doing. It is unfortunate that such statements were maliciously attributed to me and I do sympathize and understand the adverse and somehow verbally violent reaction that has been elicited by such insensitive statements or posts. Rest assured, I have taken every legal step that can be done in this regard,” the statement added

“I am devastated and shocked at the extent my character, my personal information and private space have been violated,” she stated.

Bermejo has taken legal steps to address the problem. She sought the help of the Philippine Consulate in Dubai and the National Bureau of Immigration to identify the motive and person behind the moves to discredit her.
